Event Details

After transforming their ideas into the creation of sustainable fashion collections, it is time for Slow Fashion Innovation Program students to finance their production.

Aware of the difficulties that can be faced in this process, Slow Fashion Innovation Brands invited João Pedro Pio from PPL Crowdfunding Portugal to present a workshop to our community. He will explain the steps of creating a crowdfunding project, focusing on how you can avoid mistakes to succeed in creating your campaign.

This is a donate based event (you can give as you can to cover the costs with logistics to make this event happen).

The students of The Slow fashion Innovation Program and the Bworkers have preference in the registrations but must confirm their presence to the email slowfashion.innovation@gmail.com before June, 12. After this date, if we still have avaiable spots, the registration will be open to general community.

About PPL

Crowdfunding, or collaborative funding, is a fast and transparent way to raise support through a community that shares the same interests. The PPL (ppl.pt) provides an online platform that brings together this network of promoters and supporters.

The goal of the PPL is to democratize project support, because it believes in entrepreneurship and creativity in Portugal. Despite the ingenuity and initiative of our citizens, small and medium-sized projects are facing financing difficulties. With the help of friends, acquaintances and strangers, the project can take place! From the lower amounts, anyone can be an investor and see the real impact of their support.

About João Pedro Pio

He graduated in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences and threw himself headlong to a master’s degree in England to study Animal Behavior. He was in the rainforest of Uganda, went in to the Selvagens Islands to study cagarras, lived with the Bedouins of Sinai to try to understand what the birds of the desert are planning, and only when he arrived in Sao Tome and Principe to study pigeons is that he has realized something different for his life – something more stable – so I have turned away from scientific research and began writing fiction, learning Karate, and studying Philosophy.

Years passed and the uncertain oddities added up. He was an instructor in Biology, a teacher of children’s karate, a guide to a bird watching area, a monitor at a wind turbine park, and a recruiter at Amnesty International’s Face2Face project.

Meanwhile, he continued to write, and now has three written books, one of which (“A Life without Hats”) was published thanks to a crowdfunding campaign. It was thanks to the success of this campaign that he was invited to give his testimony to a workshop organized by PPL in Mafra.

The stars were aligned, the performance went very well, and now it’s part of the team!
